Our Chordoma Community Day Houston brought together patients, family members, and medical experts, all united in their journey and commitment to understanding and battling chordoma.
Chordoma Community Days are designed as smaller, more intimate gatherings that make room for deep connections and learning from each other’s experiences. They also remind us that while patients and families face the challenges of living with chordoma, researchers and labs supported by the Chordoma Foundation work tirelessly every day to bring treatments to patients.
The day was marked by powerful speeches from several patients who bravely shared their personal stories, including long-term survivor Bill Monahan and current clinical trial patient Alyssa Lee. Their experiences and insights were inspiring and uplifting.
Additionally, presentations and discussions on quality of life provided valuable information and resources on managing neurological issues and maintaining a healthy lifestyle during and after treatment.
Key highlights included talks from Dr. Shaan Raza, a neurosurgeon at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and CF executive director, Josh Sommer. They shared exciting updates on the latest chordoma research efforts and breakthroughs and showcased the collaboration between MD Anderson Cancer Center and the Chordoma Foundation, highlighting how such partnerships accelerate the pace of research and the development of new treatments.
Chordoma Community Day Houston was a testament to the strength and spirit of the chordoma community. It was a day filled with connection, learning, and mutual support, leaving participants inspired and more engaged than ever with our shared mission to improve the lives of those affected by chordoma and lead the search for cures.
